Kagoshima Prefecture is located on Japan’s southern island, Kyushu. Kagoshima Wagyu has taken out the winner of 2017 "Wagyu Olympics" in which the best of the best are all judged against each other. In 2022 Kagoshima again took out the title of the best Wagyu in the world winning six of the nine divisions judged.
Cattle in Kagoshima have the advantage of sufficient sun and natural surroundings that defines the taste of Kagoshima Wagyu. Many will describe it as full-bodied and buttery with the right amount of marbling. Kagoshima Wagyu is bred on a highly controlled diet consisting of only the best. They are fed at a slower rate to ensure the unique marbling is resembled throughout all A5 graded cattle.
